About me

A woman with blonde hair smiling, sitting outdoors with trees visible in the background.

My name is Clare Forsyth and I am an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor working with a wide range of clients in Ryedale and York.

My approach

I draw from a variety of theoretical models to tailor your therapy according to what you need. I predominantly use a psychodynamic approach bringing in Transactional Analysis, attachment and developmental theory and neuroscience to create an holistic approach to the work. I find that understanding body sensations is invaluable in accessing and understanding our responses to situations and often bring in mindfulness techniques.

I use sand tray work as a way of working with the out of conscious feelings we may have or to think situations and challenges through. I use other creative approaches as well as guided imagery work.

In addition I am in advanced stages of training in psychosexual and relationship therapy to enhance my work with individuals, couples and mulit-partnered relationships, on both sexual and relationship issues.

Training

My training was at The Northern Guild of Psychotherapy and I have completed a wide variety of additional training to support my client work and which I continue to engage in.

I am registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists as well as a student member of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists.

I hold a student registration of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists.

I hold an enhanced DBS and have also undergone additional police screening for my work with domestic violence clients and those who have experienced serious crimes or life events.
